Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts derived from plants. They constitute an energetic vibration of the plant that has the ability to affect human physical, emotional, and spiritual harmonics. During inhalation or absorption of pure essential oils, you are connecting to the very life force of a plant. When oils are altered by artificial means, however, the precious essence of those oils is forever changed. That's why sammysoap is committed to essential oil purity.  We do not carry essential oils that have been diluted, altered, or synthetically modified. We want your aromatherapeutic experience to be authentic, and we want you to gain legitimate health benefits from our products. sammysoap only carries 100% pure, therapeutic grade organic or wildcrafted essential oils and carrier oils.

Rosemary has been used medicinally since at least Ancient Egypt when we know it was burnt as incense during rituals and placed in Pharaohs' tombs to help them remember former lives. Even then, rosemary was recognized for its ability to enhance memory. Rosemary was woven into wedding crowns and bouquets as symbols of love and constancy. It's still burnt at funerals in respect and memory of the dead. In the middle ages, rosemary was used to freshen and purify the air in French hospitals, and throughout the following centuries, the herb was used in various curative and curious ways, such as being strewn on public court room floors, worn in pouches around the neck, or placed in the hollow handles of walking sticks to enhance life and protect against disease.

We carry two types of pure therapeutic grade essential oils of rosemary: common rosemary Rosmarinus officials ct 1,8-cineole and verbena-scented rosemary officialis ct verbenone. Here are the medicinal properties compared:

Common Rosemary:

  • Cardio-tonic, anti-rheumatic, anti-spasmodic, calms inflammation of mucous membrane, expectorant, antibacterial, general tonic, choleretic (stimulates bile production), hepatic stimulant (liver), muscle aches and pains, congestion, anti-infectious, neurotonic, carminative (anti-flatulence), aphrodisiac, and digestive stimulant

Rosemary Verbenone:

Common rosemary is warm, dry, and yang, while rosemary verbonene is cool, dry, and yin.

Common Rosemary tonifies the Qi and is used for lethargy, chilliness, congestion, circulation of blood, raising Qi to the head, and restoring nerve. It has stronger properties for muscular aches and pains, lower back pain, osteoarthritis, and digestion.

Rosemary Verbonene possesses much of the same fortifying and uplifting qualities as common rosemary but is more gentle, calmative, and soothing. It is more sweet, and some would say, more subtle. It dissolves self doubt and confusion, clarifies the mind, and restores emotional equilibrium, especially against a background of phlegm and stagnant Qi. Rosemary verbenone is best for skin care use, and is considered a safe non-irritant oil. It is also okay for children over age 2.
