Acne Soap Benefits

The Problem

Inflammation of the skin, conditions such as dermatitis, rosacea, acne, psoriasis and eczema, may be caused or aggravated by healthy immune systems at war with synthetic chemicals. These conditions can be triggered by known allergens within the complex world of skincare product ingredients: the aromatherapy wanna-bes.

Why This is Happening

Laboratory sourcing is a more predictable way to conduct business, and it's less expensive for industry to isolate a natural scent or chemical and copy it synthetically than dealing with the tumultuous market factors of Mother Nature. But laboratories are not fields, synthetics are not natural, and aren't triggered to heal with an application of synthetic cocktail. The skin may temporary yield to treatment of symptoms but will not heal. Organic, wildcrafted, and all natural oils and other all natural ingredients, such as flowers, leaves, roots and clays, are commodities, subject to disruptive market variables of weather, blight, trade wars, shipping variables and political unrest. Synthesized ingredients are preferred by big business because they offer more reliable, less expensive supply chains. Never mind that our wondrously complex human systems are not best adapted to single, isolated chemicals, what Western labeling calls "active ingredients," or that many of the synthetics used in skincare products are unhealthy.

Over 1200 synthetic chemicals commonly found in American soaps and skincare products are banned from these same product categories in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, and Europe.

What You Can Do
  • Check out Sean Penn's 2013 documentary called the 'Human Experiment', which examines the health concerns and consequences of the 20th century's chemical revolution. It used to be on Netflix.
  • Familiarize yourself with chemicals of concern watch lists.
  • Try eliminating products with detergents, fragrances and dyes if you experience unwanted skin conditions. Body washes and shower gels are mostly water, and water-based ingredients require stabilizers and inhibitors to restrict the growth of bacteria and fungi. These synthetic chemicals frequently irritate skin. Don't wash or moisturize skin with alcohol- and petroleum-based products. Stop stripping your skin.
  • Read product ingredients carefully and rely on 100% all natural soaps and skincare products. Scent will not be completely natural unless it is expressly identified. "Fragrance" is always synthetic, even if it's identified as "natural" or "organic" fragrance. "Fragrance" is a proprietary label. Manufacturers are not required to disclose the ingredients behind that identifier. There can be one hundred synthetic chemicals hidden behind the word fragrance. As shoppers became better informed consumers, fragrance became the dumping ground for everything manufacturers didn't want buyers to see.
  • Use 100% all natural products. It's just easier. Human beings have evolved on the planet with plants, clays, and salts, etc. We secrete enzymes to break down and use plants and clays. The body knows what to do with nature! As well it should because skin is permeable.
